🏆
In an incredible display of heart, teamwork, and grit, the Melbourne Wolves Dragons U9 Girls have been crowned Autumn 2025 Champions, achieving this remarkable feat with only five players and no subs.
On Saturday, 28 June 2025, at Sandringham Family Leisure Centre, the Dragons defeated their final opponent 22–13, capping off a season that showcased their resilience and team-first spirit. Every player played every minute, every week, never backing down, never giving up, and always lifting each other up on and off the court.
Ludovica Bertacchi led the scoring with 22 points (yes all of the team’s points and was awarded the MVP), showing skill, composure, and confidence under pressure, while Ella Shannon, Aariyana Patel, and Nadia Sharma fought hard on defense, boxed out bigger opponents, and helped bring the ball up the court under pressure. Every rebound, pass, and defensive stop mattered, and these girls proved that when you play with courage and trust in your teammates, numbers don’t define your success.
This championship is a testament to the Dragons’ unstoppable energy and unity, built through meticulate coaching and training led by Rachael Sharma (our Coach of the Year), tough matchups, and the constant drive to improve. While other teams rotated fresh legs onto the court, these five Dragons kept running, defending, and smiling, game after game.
The Melbourne Wolves community is incredibly proud of the Dragons for this historic win, reminding everyone what junior basketball is truly about: fun, growth, and friendships that last far beyond the final whistle.
Congratulations to the 2025 Autumn U9 Girls Champions, Melbourne Wolves Dragons! Your journey is an inspiration, and your Wolves family will be cheering you on as you continue to grow and shine. 🐺🏀✨
